Welcome to Feb Club Emeritus!

Every year, Yale alumni and their friends gather around the world every night of February — in small groups and large, in cities, towns, hamlets and villages, on every continent. Why do we do it? Simple. Because it’s fun to get together. That’s it. There is no agenda. There is no plan. Feb Club is simply a way for Yalies the world over to get together. This approach has worked since the first worldwide Feb Club in 2008.

Since then, we have had more than 1,000 parties and have welcomed more than 30,000 guests all with one aim – to hang out with an amazing, diverse, vibrant, curious and fun group of people from all Yale College classes, all Yale graduate and professional schools and all walks of life. Feb Club Emeritus has only three rules: no speeches, no fundraising, it’s just a party. It’s that simple.

So, whether you are in Anchorage or Zanzibar, Beijing or New York, Quito or Los Angeles, or anywhere in between, we hope you can join us at a Feb Club Emeritus event. Check out our calendar. Odds are, there is a party near you. (And if there isn’t, fear not. It is easy to organize a party. Click here to learn how.)

Hope to see you at Feb Club Emeritus!
Happy February!

Feb Club for the Chronologically Gifted

Tuesday, February 12th, 2019

5:30pm

Ritz Carlton Georgetown

3100 South Street NW, Washington, DC

By popular demand, this party will once again be at the Ritz Carlton Georgetown (3100 South Street NW, Washington, DC 20007).  The party generally starts at 5:30 pm, and goes ‘til the last Yalie goes home.  It will be a cash (or credit card) bar, as always.

This event was created as a quieter alternative to the “real” Feb Club Emeritus event on Feb 19, which is usually very loud and crowded with Millennial Yalies!  Yalies of all ages are invited, of course, but it will be a somewhat older crowd (say, mostly those with graduation years prior to 2005).

If you haven’t yet come to one of these, please join us.  Now in our 6th year (I think), these gatherings seem to fill a niche with area Yalies in the otherwise dreary month of February – and of course, non-Yale spouses/friends are always welcome to join us as well.

Asbury Park,NJ @ The Asbury Hotel
Feb 17 @ 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Meet up with NJ area Yalies, pals, and other friendly live music fans in the famed music-scene-by-the-sea Asbury Park.
This Feb Club gathering will hit the Sandy Mack Jam at The Asbury Hotel, which features a mix of local artists (from bands that play local venues such as The Stone Pony, Wonder Bar, and The Saint.) Here in the atrium bar, it’s easy to flow between chatting, mingling, sitting, grooving, even grabbing a board game; and choose from the Bar or Cafe for cocktails, espresso, and/or a sandwich. Tunes typically span Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers, other classic rock greats—and are always danceable. “Bruce might show”…um, riiiiiiiight. More likely, you may meet some actual Bulldogs…this place is pooch-friendly! Kid-friendly too, so bring the Fam. Look for the Y banner, and your local host Nicole Possin YC (ES) ‘94—a former Whim n Rhythm member who may be called up to sing a little Janis Joplin…
No cover fee, no purchase required, just be prepared to pay for parking; OR, be safe and take the NJ Transit train.

So, Feb Club is usually a no speech thing, but this is something we could not pass up. A Natural History of Beer — sounds like fun!

Yalies get a special code for this event.  Yalies & friends are welcome to use the code FEBCLUB to get $15 tix to the program directly trough the link below, and we’ll have a little informal gathering after the event.

Join Museum Curator Emeritus Ian Tattersall and Curator Rob DeSalle, authors of A Natural History of Beer, as they weave together findings from their respective fields of paleoanthropology and molecular biology in an exciting journey through the world of beer. Take part in tastings and join this grand tour of the science and history of this popular beverage, covering a diverse range of topics including animal behavior, ecology, archaeology, chemistry, sociology, law, genetics, physiology, neurobiology, and more.

The conversation is moderated by Megan Krigbaum, freelance wine writer and contributing editor for PUNCH.

A book signing with Tattersall and DeSalle follows the talk.

Special thanks to Catskill Brewery for supplying beer.

Support provided by NYC Kegs.

Tastings include:

Ball Lightning Pilsner

5.5% ABV

The classic Czech Pilsner is the inspiration for this modern twist on an original beer designed for easy drinking. More hoppy than traditional, this beer features imported Saaz hops and European pilsner malt. Crisp and refreshing.

Devil’s Path IPA

7.5% ABV

Made with 100% Michigan hops. The aroma is rich and ripe with a variety of fruit flavors. The taste follows with balanced bitterness and flavors of berries, tropical fruits and pine. The finish is appropriately bitter and leaves the palate wanting more.

Stout ‘19

4.5% ABV

Strong aroma of roasted coffee and chocolate welcome you to this part-lactose stout. The coffee oats and lactose give a lush mouthfeel to support the strong dark-malt flavors that make this a very robust beer for 4.5% ABV.
